EVK joined the MyToolBox consortium in  August 2017, bringing vast experience in the development of real-time sorting techniques to the project. Together with TARIS, a dried fig Association  in Turkey, EVK’s goal is to replace manual sorting of dried figs under UV light with a more effective automated system capable of discriminating sound figs from those with fungal contamination containing aflatoxins.  iTo this end, EVK’s experts visited TARIS at Izmir, Turkey, to familiarise themselves with  the different steps in growing, harvesting, drying and sorting  dried figs to help in planning work to design and validate a  real-time sorting device.
